For Project 4, I am creating a blog entitled "ILSTU PROBLEMS". It is a humorous blog collaborating ideas from myself and from others venting about the problems that occur at Illinois State. I bring in pictures of unusual things or unusual behavior that occurs at ISU, videos of students poking fun at ISU, but most of the blog, however, is composed of other students' tweets that they have previously posted on the twitter page known as "ILSTU PROBZ". I comment on the different tweets I have brought in and have even categorized them because so many people bring attention to the same problems with their tweets. For example, there is a category I have created collaborating all the tweets I have found complaining about Subway at ISU.
The reason this blog is humorous is because of the relief factor. Most of what people are saying as well as what I am coming up with on my own, are all issues the school has that are never directly addressed. It is humorous because students realize they are a part of a population who experience the same problems they do but would not think so without seeing it with their own eyes. Most of the "problems" brought up in my blog are people behaving in an unusual way or something happening out of the ordinary. Even more humorous, though, is that as a student body we have come to accept these unusual happenings as usual and when someone points out the flaw in that, it actually becomes funny. Some of the formal conventions I have had to consider with my blog are pictures and titles. The pictures in my blog are humorous because they are highlighting an absurdity that is either already there or no one simply noticed it before. For example, the abnormally large squirrels covering the campus become a humorous topic when addressed as a problem because people either agree they are an absurdity posing as a problem or people have never realized it before hearing me pointing it out. Likewise, my blog posts also have humorous titles such as "Subway Problems" and "Sluts on Campus". This helps separate my topics in categories as well as building to the already humorous topics.
